There is a well planned daily programme of activities and free play including quiet time for all age groups with the emphasis on learning through play. The programme is varied and reflects the needs and interests of the children. Observations of the children will be carried to inform the choice of play activities and materials used by staff. These observations are also used to chart your child’s development and highlight areas of strength and weakness. Staff can then work on these areas to develop and enhance them further. The weekly planned child led programmes are assessed, evaluated and extended as required. These programmes include the under 3’s and their planned activities are based on the “Pre birth to Three” document published by the Scottish Executive. The babies and children are presented with a substantial range of equipment and materials appropriate to their age and stage of development and there are always opportunities to develop imagination, creativity, co-ordination, gross and fine motor skills, sensory stimulation, numeracy, literacy and language. The nursery is in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council therefore we can offer pre-school funding.

Full and part time places are available and we do not request a minimum number of sessions, however recommend two ½ sessions at the least for continuity for your child. We have a free of charge settling-in period to adjust your child and yourself to nursery life, this is discussed and organised prior to starting.

All children are supplied with a toothbrush and toothpaste and parents are asked to supply a change of clothes, wellies and nappies and wipes for the babies and toddlers. Bottles and food for the babies should be supplied and will be heated as per your preference. Snack will be given to the babies when they are ready to be weaned. We assist all children with potty training and weaning in conjunction with your preferences and the needs of your child at all times.
